Youth Groups - Children's Sunday School Sunday
School programme
Sunday School classes are held twelve times during
the academic year, in the Parish Centre immediately after
the Sunday 10 o’clock Mass. These classes are for the
Infant and Junior school children of the Parish who, for whatever
reason, do not attend a Catholic primary school.
We have four groups generally based on school years, but
these may be varied to suit the individual need or development
of the child.
- Reception and Year 1 pupils
- Year 3 and Year 4 pupils
- Year 5 and Year 6 pupils
and
- Year 2 pupils– Sacramental preparation class (First
Confession & First Holy Communion)
- Secondary School pupils – see Youth Group

We use the “Alive in His Life” programme of religious
education which was designed for use by families of the forces living
overseas.
At the Sunday School classes a catechist works with the group of
children in their class. As the children go to many different village
primary schools, this is an ideal opportunity for them to meet up
and work with other catholic children in our Parish.
The children take home the lessons for the weeks in between the
classes, and the parents and children are encouraged to work through
the lessons together at home. In this way the whole year is covered
but there is only a commitment to the set time once a month.
There is a guide for Parents and accompanying worksheets for children
to complete. For each age group there is a two-year course, except
for the Sacramental preparation group.
The Sacramental Preparation class
The Sacramental Preparation class meets more frequently than
once a month. At the beginning of the school year, the parents of
the children who will be in the class work out a timetable of dates
and times and tailor the course programme to suit. The parents work
together to prepare the children, often taking it in turns to ‘take’
the classes. A catechist co-ordinates the group and /or takes classes
as the need arises.
