| New Stained Glass Window |
Posted: Wed 07 January 2009
Our Lady of Saddleworth
The new window is of a more modern design than the older windows. It was sketched by a local artist, a member of the Parish, Anne Kirkman, and installed by a local designer of stained glass windows. It represents something of the history of the ethos and the environs of Saddleworth. The background is moorland with the canal in the foreground and Pots and Pans in the backdrop to the scene. Mary wears the woven shawl of a 19th century Mill girl. The colours chosen are based on 13th Century frescos painted in the Scroveni Chapel at Padua. |
