Parish History

This Web site was started as a project by the young people in our Parish to celebrate our Golden Jubilee year, and to tell the world about the Catholic community of which we are a part.

This Parish would not have been here without the dedication and determination of those Catholics who 50 years ago first approached the Bishop to ask, originally for their own Mass centre.

This Parish History section of the Web site shows how we have celebrated and remembered those 50 years in our Golden Jubilee page. We have also included a brief history of the Parish from its beginnings, and a page on local customs in Saddleworth.

Photographs, pictures, and booklets of past parish life were displayed for the Golden Jubilee celebrations. In creating this Web site we have tried to include some of that information in our hope that the work will not be lost or forgotten. There is still more work to be done, and so the project will continue!
